- Seal Bay Conservation Park
A trip to Kangaroo Island would be incomplete without visiting Seal Bay, home to Australia’s third largest colony of sea lions. Get up close and personal as you watch legions of sea lions play in their natural environment. Catch them sprawled on the beach, yawning, stretching and feeding their young.
- Remarkable Rocks
Admire the Remarkable Rocks at Flinders Chase National Park. Perched over the sea and created over millions of years by the wind, rain and waves, these giant rock boulders do justice to their name. Drop by sunset or sunrise and witness them draped in the warm tones of the sky.
- Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park
Experience Kangaroo Island wildlife at your fingertips when you visit this sanctuary which is home to over 600 animals. Hand feed the kangaroos, cuddle koalas, see little penguins being fed, watch the Echidnas play and laugh with the Kookaburras- it’s a fun day out for all ages!
- Cape Willoughby Lighthouse
Built in 1852, the spectacular Cape Willoughby Lighthouse was the first lighthouse built in South Australia. Located at the eastern end of Kangaroo Island, you’ll find sheep-dotted hills as you travel along the beautiful winding road leading to this. Atop the lighthouse, jaw-dropping views of the Great Australian Bight awaits you.
- Emu Bay
Emu Bay with its gorgeous sandy beach is located 20 minutes from Kingscote, Kangaroo Island’s main town. Walk along the foreshore at night and see the colony of Fairy Penguins which is the smallest of all penguins.
- Kelly Hill Conservation Park
Visit a subterranean wonderland of underground caverns, towering columns, and jagged stalactites and stalagmites at Kelly Hill Conservation Park. This dry limestone caves was ‘discovered’ in the 1880s by a horse named Kelly, who fell into them through a hole.
- Admiral’s Arch
Do more seal spotting at Admiral’s Arch located in Cape du Couedic, Flinders Chase National Park. Enjoy watching some 7,000 New Zealand fur seals swim through a stunning natural rock arch, which has been sculpted by weathering and erosion from the sea for thousands of years.
- Weirs Cove
Not far from Admiral’s Arch is the beautiful Weirs Cove. There are walks with spectacular views you can do around here. The view from the top is simply stunning.
- Raptor Domain
Get up close and personal with the birds and watch one-hour educational, fun and interactive shows featuring eagles, falcons, owls and kookaburras. To be with these engaging birds is an amazing experience.
- Dudley Wine Cellar Door
Take your lunch on the deck, perched atop Kangaroo Island’s stunning north coast. Taste award-winning food and wine while gaping at majestic views over the cliff.
- Kingscote Pelicans
Head to the Kingscote Wharf in the late afternoon and watch the Pelican Man, a local Celebrity, give bits of fish to the large, pink-billed pelicans. He also provides an entertaining discussion about these hungry birds.
- Vivonne Bay
Known as one of Australia’s best beaches, Vivonne Bay with its pristine waters and gorgeous sandy beach is the only safe harbour on the south coast of the island for swimming, fishing and surfing. It is a perfect location for family picnics.
- Little Sahara
Visit Kangaroo Island’s very own Sahara desert. It was formed from eroded limestone over millenia of erosion. Climb the ridge and sand board your way down. While on top, enjoy the view of white peaks and valleys beyond.
- Western River Cove
Located on the rugged north coast of Kangaroo Island is the beautiful Western River Cove which is sheltered by two headlands just 200 metres apart. It has the best of both worlds a lovely beach running into a pristine white sand beach.
- Stokes Bay
Walk through a narrow walkway of rock formations and find an expansive hidden beach at the end. Again, the beach looks like paradise.
